Privacy notice

This notice explains how BCHAR handles personal data on this website. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible

BCHAR AG, Josefstrasse 219, 8005 Zurich, Switzerland, is the controller. For any question or request about your data, write to contact@bchar.earth.

What we collect and why

Enquiries. When you send the form on the Talk to us page, we process what you enter: your name, email address, company, and the project, feedstock, or procurement details you choose to share. We use it to assess your enquiry, reply to you, and prepare a possible collaboration. Fields marked with an asterisk are needed for a useful reply; everything else is optional. We sort incoming enquiries internally by timing and project stage to decide whom to answer first. No decision about you is made by automated means alone.

Product description requests. When you request a product description on the Operators page, we process your name, email address, company, and the products you selected, so that we can provide the documents and follow up on your interest.

Server logs. When you open the website, our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, time, requested page, and browser type. We use it to keep the website secure and running.

Visitor statistics. We count page views and form submissions with Plausible Analytics. It sets no cookies, builds no profiles, and does not identify individual visitors.

Legal basis under the GDPR

Where the GDPR applies, we process enquiries to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The same applies to product description requests. Server logs and visitor statistics rest on our legitimate interest in a secure, working, and useful website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Who receives your data

Your data is handled by BCHAR staff who deal with enquiries and by these service providers, who act on our instructions under data-processing agreements:

• Microsoft Azure (Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd.): website hosting and server logs, in data centers in Switzerland or the European Union.
• Plausible Analytics (Plausible Insights OÜ, Estonia): cookie-free visitor statistics, on servers in the European Union.
• Notion (Notion Labs, Inc., USA): the workspace in which we store and follow up enquiries and product description requests.

We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising.

Transfers outside Switzerland and the EU

Enquiries and product description requests stored in Notion are processed in the United States. Notion Labs, Inc. is certified under the Swiss–U.S. and EU–U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks; in addition, standard contractual clauses apply. Microsoft may, in exceptional support cases, access data from outside Europe under the same safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and request data while we are in contact with you and for up to 24 months after the last contact, then delete it. If an enquiry leads to a contract, the related records are kept for ten years as Swiss law requires. Server logs are deleted after 90 days.

Cookies

This website sets no analytics or advertising cookies and loads no third-party fonts or trackers, which is why you see no cookie banner.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, for a copy in a common format, and for correction, deletion, or restriction, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Write to contact@bchar.earth; we answer within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, with the data protection authority of your country of residence.

Changes

We update this notice when the website or the law changes. The version published here applies.
